Our Mission & Vision
OUR MISSION
Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church exists to glorify God by leading people into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ.
We are committed to:
Loving God through worship and obedience
Loving People through compassion, service, and connection
Building Community through discipleship, fellowship, and outreach
Through biblical teaching and purposeful ministry, we empower individuals and families to grow in faith, walk in purpose, and impact the world around them.
OUR VISION
At Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Overseer Michelle Pitts-Luckett, our vision is to be a Christ-centered, Spirit-led ministry committed to loving God, loving people, and building community.
We believe the church is more than a place—it is a living, growing body where all are welcomed, valued, and transformed through the power of Jesus Christ. We are dedicated to creating a place where every person knows they belong—a place where broken hearts are healed, families are restored, and individuals from every walk of life are embraced with compassion, dignity, and grace.
-
Our vision reaches beyond the sanctuary walls. We are called to impact the community by reaching the lost, uplifting the hurting, and serving with purpose and love. Through prayer, outreach, discipleship, youth empowerment, worship, and service, we strive to be a light—bringing hope, peace, and direction to all who seek it.
Through dynamic worship, sound biblical teaching, and authentic fellowship, we are committed to raising up disciples who reflect the heart of Christ. We cultivate an atmosphere where healing flows, faith grows, and meaningful community is built.
Our vision is not simply to gather—but to be the Church, leaving a lasting legacy of faith, unity, restoration, and generational impact.
what we believe
We Believe In:
-
We believe in one God—loving, powerful, and ever-present—who guides, restores, and gives purpose to every life.
We believe in the power of faith to transform hearts, heal brokenness, and renew strength in every season.
We believe that love is the greatest calling, and we are called to demonstrate that love through service, compassion, and unity.
We believe that every person has value, purpose, and a God-given assignment—and deserves to be supported, encouraged, and uplifted. We believe that ministry is not confined to a building, but lived out daily through how we serve, lead, and care for others.
-
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the ultimate authority for Christian faith, life, and practice. The Scriptures guide our beliefs, decisions, and mission.
-
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. God is loving, holy, faithful, and sovereign.
-
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully divine and fully human. Through His life, death on the cross, and resurrection, He offers salvation, forgiveness, and eternal life to all who believe in Him.
-
We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by works, but results in a transformed life marked by obedience, love, and service.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit lives within believers, guiding, teaching, comforting, and empowering them to live according to God’s will and to serve effectively in the church and the world.
-
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, made up of believers who worship God, grow together in faith, and serve one another and the community in love.
-
We believe Christian baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing a believer’s faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism represents identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.
-
We believe followers of Christ are called to live lives that reflect God’s love, holiness, and compassion—loving God wholeheartedly, loving others sincerely, and building community through service.
“Let all that you do be done in love.”
OUR VALUES & CORE PILLARS
-
We aim to cultivate a strong, unified community where faith is lived out daily, lives are restored, and individuals are empowered to walk in their God-given purpose. We strive to be a place where healing begins, hope is renewed, and every person feels seen, supported, and strengthened.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish…” — Proverbs 29:18
-
Our desire is to impact lives through compassionate service, spiritual guidance, and community connection. We are committed to meeting people where they are—offering support in times of need, encouragement in times of growth, and faith in every season.
We accomplish this by:
Leading with love, integrity, and humility
Creating spaces for healing, restoration, and support
Empowering individuals and families to grow in faith and purpose
Serving our community with compassion both inside and outside the church
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16
-
We believe that ministry extends beyond words, it is demonstrated through action. Our commitment is to be present, to uplift, and to serve as a source of strength and hope throughout our community.
“Carry each other’s burdens…” — Galatians 6:2
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”
The Foundation of Who We Are
-
We believe faith is the center of everything we do. It guides our decisions, strengthens our purpose, and reminds us that with God, all things are possible.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7
-
We are called to serve with compassion, humility, and love. Every act of care is an opportunity to reflect God’s heart and meet the needs of others.

-
We are stronger together. We are committed to building meaningful connections, uplifting one another, and creating a space where everyone belongs and feels supported.

-
We lead with honesty, transparency, and accountability in all we do. Our actions align with our faith, and our commitment is to do what is right—even when it isn’t easy.

-
We meet people where they are—with grace, understanding, and love. We believe healing begins when people feel seen, heard, and cared for.

Our legacy, Our Founders
Founded in 1957, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church has served the Milwaukee community for generations with faith, love, and commitment. Under the founding leadership of Dr. Donnie Sims and Mother Nealie Sims, JMBC became a place of worship, discipleship, prayer, service, and community care.
Today, JMBC continues to honor that foundation while stepping into a renewed season of ministry, growth, outreach, and impact. As we remember the faithfulness of those who came before us, we remain committed to loving God, loving people, and building community.
